Ultrasound

The Victoria Women's Clinic is able to provide in-house routine obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound exams at both or our locations. Enjoy the convenience of having your ultrasound appointment scheduled the same day as your visit with the doctor. Each physician then has the opportunity to review the results of your sonogram with you during your appointment.

We offer a First trimester sonogram to determine fetal age. Our Second trimester fetal sonogram helps our doctors determine if your baby is developing normally, the location of the placenta and baby's sex if you would like to know. It also helps to identify any possible fetal abnormalities. A Third trimester sonogram may be ordered by your doctor to check your baby's growth and position. Pelvic sonograms visualize the uterus and ovaries. This type of ultrasound may be useful in diagnosing pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, ovarian cysts, and many other gynecologic problems.

How to prepare for your sonogram visit:

  • Arrive on time.
  • Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing.
  • We do allow family members to accompany you for the exam. However; please remember that this is a detailed examination requiring concentration by your sonographer, so please use your discretion.
  • You may call 361-578-5233 if you have any questions or you can refer to the "Obstetrical Sonograms at the Victoria Women's Clinic" paper we give to you at your first OB visit.

The Victoria Women's Clinic utilizes the latest ultrasound technology in their Ultrasound Department. We currently have GE Voluson 8 Ultrasound Systems in each of our ultrasound suites.

Our highly trained sonographers have many years experience in performing obstetrical and gynecological sonograms and each sonographer is registered by ARDMS (The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) with specialties in obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound.
